For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. -Psalm91:10(NLT)
PROTECTED BY ANGELS
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you know that God is faithful to those who love him?
He’s always with you and wants you to repent of your sins
He orders his angels to protect you wherever you go
Let God’s word be planted in your hearts so it can grow.
He has given you authority to trample and crush the enemy
You need to declare in his might name so you can have victory
His angels are encamped around you and protects you constantly
Look forward to all his promises so you can prosper continually.

We live in a war zone. Ephesians 6:12 says: For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. This verse tells us that we are in a daily battle with someone we don’t visually see. How can we win with a war when we don’t see the enemy? This whole chapter written by Paul to the Ephesians is a guide to all believers how to do spiritual combat with the enemy. We are instructed to put on all of God’s armor and reminded in Psalms 91 that God orders his angels to protect you wherever you go.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for your reinforcements to protect me.
REFLECTION

NO EVIL WILL CONQUER GOD’S PEOPLE Poem Devotional
May 17
________________________________________
If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. -Psalm91:9(NLT)
NO EVIL WILL CONQUER GOD’S PEOPLE
A poem and essay by ILMA
If you run to the one true God, he will give you refuge
Believe in him and no one can really crush you
If you make Jesus your shelter and sanctuary
You will overcome sin and have victory.
Everything is created by God and he has power
You need not be afraid for the enemy will cower
There is no other shelter safer than the Almighty
Remember to abide in him so you will have security.

There is really nowhere safe in this world we live in. There is so much noise, disorder and
greed surrounding us. The bible says that as long as we are living in this place, we will have trouble. We, humans like to think that we are able to take care of ourselves and protect us from evil around us. The truth is, the devil is the ruler of this world (John 12:31). So as long as we are alive, we will have struggles being good because the world’s standard is all about selfishness, greed and control.
The bible gives us another alternative to thrive in this world. Run to the one true God for shelter because he will ensure you protection.
PRAYER
Thank you for protecting those who seek you Lord.
REFLECTION
Why do you think that people don’t run to God even though we know he can protect us?

He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Psalm 91:4(NLT)
GOD COVERS YOU WITH HIS PROMISES
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you find yourself getting beaten up by unseen forces?
Run to God’s word and look up all his faithful promises
You will find many assurances of his love for his children
You are protected by all his army of angels from heaven.
Never allow the enemy to bring you down with his lies
Seek the Lord first and you will find comfort in his light
He will shelter you with his wings, he gives you his armor
Always put it on so that you will end up the victor.

Have you ever been let down with a broken promise by someone? I was surrounded by people who never kept their promises while I was growing up. It crushed my spirit and made me feel like I wasn’t important and that I did not matter. I learned not to trust anyone as a young girl because they just break my heart each time they don’t fulfill what they promised. As a result, I told myself that I will be a promise keeper and do my best to fulfill whatever I vow to do.
The bible tells us that God is the ultimate promise keeper. His promises protect us from the devil’s lies.
PRAYER
Reveal to me promises when I feel so let down Lord.

How can God’s promises keep us hopeful?

A SAFE PLACE Poem Devotional
May 15
________________________________________
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God and I trust him. -Psalm 91:2(NLT)
A SAFE PLACE
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you feel unsafe in your surroundings
You can run to God for refuge, he is waiting
There is nowhere safer than in his unfailing love
Bring all your concerns to him up above.
When you feel threatened and dejected
Just remember Christ was also rejected
Trust only in him, he alone can provide
Seek him and you will go for a really good ride.

I had a traumatic childhood and there was nowhere for me to go safe. I was called names, belittled, ridiculed, neglected, mishandled, yelled at, and many more. Because I was very small when I started experiencing these mishandlings, I didn’t have anywhere to run. My grandfather was one of those safe persons I took refuge from. I only see him very seldom during the summer breaks. It was such a treat to be seen, heard and respected by him. The sad thing is that he was also surrounded by people who mistreated him, people he loves. During those times that I cannot access my grandpa, I learned to talk to Jesus daily. On my walk to school, I would talk to him aloud and tell him all my pain. The bible says, God is our only safe refuge. We can trust him and he is reliable.
PRAYER
Remind me to always seek refuge in you Lord.

When was the last time you ran to the Lord for safety?

LET MY MOUTH PRAISE YOU Poem Devotional
May 14
________________________________________
Unseal my lips, O Lord, that my mouth may praise you. – Psalm 51:15(NLT)
LET MY MOUTH PRAISE YOU
A poem and essay by ILMA
Lord, you are awesome and praiseworthy
Everything you’ve created amazes me
Let me only have praise in my mouth
Help me only to let kind words out.
Unseal my lips so I can glorify you
Change me and have my mind renewed
Cleanse my heart so I can only say pure words
Help me rend my tongue so I can overcome this world.
________________________________________
You might have heard the saying that if you have nothing better to say, don’t open your mouth. It is natural for us to see and say the negative but supernatural to have the prudence to control what comes out of it. The bible says in James that if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could control ourselves in every other way. He also mentions that the tongue is a flame of fire, a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself; that people can tame all kinds of animals but no one can tame the tongue which is evil and full of deadly poison. Isn’t this so true? We could have saved some relationships if we were able to control it. We ought to only open our lips to praise God.
PRAYER
Help me rend my tongue Lord!

PRAYER FOR RESTORATION Poem Devotional
May 13
________________________________________
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore me the joy of your salvation and make me willing to obey you. Psalm 51:10-12(NLT)
PRAYER FOR RESTORATION
A poem and essay by ILMA
Lord, I feel tired and overwhelmed by adversities
The enemy has kept me busy with much activities
My peace was compromised and I am feeling helpless
Reveal to me why I feel so much emptiness.
Create in me a clean heart and renew my loyalty
Do not take away your Holy Spirit from me
Restore me the joy of your salvation and help me obey
I plead you to give me heal and strengthen me each day.

There are days I wake up in a very sad mood. It usually happens when I get very busy with many activities and when I don’t have time to reflect at the end of the day. I usually journal and have a conversation with God each morning when I wake up but sometimes don’t have time to pray before bedtime because I am still finishing a project or chore.
The bible summons us to pray for restoration and cleansing of our hearts. It is important to remember that we must never grieve the Holy Spirit so we can hear what he is teaching or convicting us with.
PRAYER
Lord, I need you especially when I am weak and overwhelmed.

HARVEST OF GENEROSITY Poem Devotional
May 12
________________________________________
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. -2 Corinthians 9:10(NLT)
HARVEST OF GENEROSITY
A poem and essay by ILMA
Whenever you are blessed with bounty
God expects you to give generously
He provides all that you need in this life
He increases your means so you can abide.
He will shower you with blessings
Do you live your life as an offering?
He plants different seeds of kindness
So you can reap a harvest of goodness.
________________________________________
Do you have any idea why God provides for your needs despite all kinds of disobedience and ungratefulness from his people? Because that is who he is. He cannot act out of character and be unloving or stingy to his children. Just like our earthly parents would die for their children just to provide for all their needs, God would do the same and more. He loves us unconditionally and gave his own Son to free us from sin.
Paul tells us that God provides for all our needs just as he provides seed for the farmer and bread for them to eat. He promises an increase in resources to those who are faithful and a bounty and overflow of harvest of generosity is what he expects from his people.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for your provision and blessings.

GIVING MORE THAN WHAT YOU CAN Poem Devotional
May 11
________________________________________
For I can testify, they gave not only what they could afford, but far more. And they did it of their own free will. – 2 Corinthians 8:3(NLT)
GIVING MORE THAN WHAT YOU CAN
A poem and essay by ILMA
God is pleased with those who give generously
He wants you to prioritize him faithfully
Those who give far more than they can afford
They will have blessings and have an overflow.
The Lord wants someone who gives cheerfully
For it shows that you love him dearly
When you give beyond what you have
It will multiply many times when you get it back.
________________________________________
There was a movie a long time ago entitled “Pay it Forward.” The boy decided to give back what he got to two or three more kids and asked them to pay it forward to three others. The network grew so big and eventually the act of one kid who gave beyond what he had became a chain of love for all those who participated in that giving circle.
2 Corinthians 9:7 says that we shouldn’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure for God loves a person who gives cheerfully. The next verse gives us the blessings and bounty we can reap from such generous giving. Paul stressed and gave credit to those who gave far more that what they could afford. He was astounded that they gave from their own free will.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to remember that I’m giving to you when I give to others.

PROMISE OF COMPLETION OF KNOWLEDGE Poem Devotional
May 10
________________________________________
Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. – 1 Corinthians 13:12(NLT)
PROMISE OF COMPLETION OF KNOWLEDGE
A poem and essay by ILMA
When I was a child, I spoke, and reasoned like one
When I grew up, I learned new ways and gave up fun
Now I see things imperfectly as in a mirror that’s cloudy
But when Christ comes, I will have knowledge completely.
All that I know now is partial and inadequate
If I read God’s word it can temporarily satiate
While I’m still in this world, I won’t be perfect
But Christ ensures if I believe that I’ll be faultless.

Children, especially toddlers like to pretend that they are adults. They love to sound like their mothers or fathers. They mimic almost all the adults around them. That is why we must be watchful how we talk or behave in front of a child. Their favorite word is “why?”
They feel frustrated when they don’t get answers. Then we grow up and try to look for answers on our own, yet we still feel empty a lot of time inside.
Paul explains in his book to the Corinthians that we will partially know things but Christ promises complete knowledge when he comes back.
PRAYER
Lord, give me patience to look forward to your promise of knowledge completion.

OBEDIENCE MAKES US RIGHT Poem Devotional
May 9
________________________________________
For merely listening to the law doesn’t make us right with God. It is obeying the law that makes us right in his sight. – Romans 2:13(NLT)
OBEDIENCE MAKES US RIGHT
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you hear God’s truth, do you obey and adhere to it?
Do you hear God’s voice and heed his Spirit?
For merely listening to the law doesn’t make us right
It is in obedience that we receive blessings and God’s light.
Obedience makes us ready to go the next step to God’s will
It makes us right in his sight and not be ruled by what we feel
When we obey, we build protection for our hearts to stay pure
When we rebel, it brings chaos and allows the enemy to lure.
________________________________________
The bible says in James 1:22 that we don’t just listen to the God’s word, we must do what it says. I heard a bible preacher define sin as doing what is right even when you don’t feel like doing it. Another definition I heard from another bible teacher was that when we know something is wrong and continue to do it despite the knowledge. Disobedience was a stronghold in my family of origin and it was second nature for me to rebel. God freed me from it when I learned to obey.
The bible tells us what is right and true, it is up to us to obey so we can follow his will.
PRAYER
Help me to obey in little and big ways.
REFLECTION
Share how obedience to God blessed you.
