JESUS’ SACRIFICE MAKES US RIGHT
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you believe how powerful is the sacrifice of Jesus?
He died for us because he considers us very precious
People are made right with God when they believe
The faith in his sacrifice is crucial for us to receive.
Are you able to reflect on the blood that saved you?
Have you allowed yourself to be renewed?
The blood of Jesus restores all relationships
It manifests his faithfulness and kingship.
________________________________________
Many people do their best to make things right. No one can really be truly right unless we acknowledge the power of the sacrifice on the cross. When Jesus died for our sins, his bloodshed paid our sin debt. He erased our sins through his faithful sacrifice on the cross.
He bridged the gap that was created by our sin. He became the link or the bridge for us to renew our relationship with the heavenly Father. Whenever we fall into sin, all he wants us to do is to confess it, repent and renew our lives so we can have a new beginning again. He forgives us when we repent and is always faithful to guide and teach us to do the right thing. So, always reflect on the blood that was shed for you.

NOT ONE IS WISE OR RIGHTEOUS Poem Devotional

July 9
________________________________________
As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. – Romans 3:10-11(NLT)
NOT ONE IS WISE OR RIGHTEOUS
A poem and essay by ILMA
We only get wisdom if we consult the word
No one is truly wise to overcome this world
If we don’t seek God, we will fail to thrive
We will lack blessings if we don’t abide.
Scriptures say, no one is seeking God
Most people have turned their backs
That is why we need to seek him again
It will keep us winning against Satan.
________________________________________
Do you know anyone who is truly righteous, wise and without sin? There is no human who is exempt from sinning. The only person who is sinless is the Lord Jesus Christ. Even though he was God, he became human to save us.
In Romans 3, we are reminded that no human is righteous-not one person. We cannot be truly wise if we turn our backs to God. But in Romans chapter three, we see that we need not compare and judge one another since we are all sinners and that the only way we can be right with God is by abiding in him and meditating and living his word. Apart from him, we are nothing. So, let us all make sure that we seek him and follow his word.

PRAYER
Lord, give me the humility to praise and glorify you always.

God’s Approval poem devotional

July 8

And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful! -Psalm 90:17(NLT)
GOD’S APPROVAL
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you consult God when you make decisions?
He knows everything and he has all the solution
Run to the Lord for approval so you can thrive
Rely on him so you will have wisdom in your life.
God shows his approval by making our efforts successful
He will take care of all believers who stay faithful
Make sure that He comes first in all that you do
Feed on his word which only brings the truth.
________________________________________
There are many people who seek someone’s approval. Most of the time it is the wrong person they seek consent from. I grew up with a lack of affirmation from those who raised me. I became hungry for approval from others. It brought much trials and suffering in my life. I got trapped from being accepted by those people I work for or I am in relationship with. No wonder, I became so unhappy and devalued. I was seeking approval from the wrong persons.
The bible tells us in 1 Thessalonians 2:4 that our purpose is to please God, not people. Galatians 1:10 tells us that if we are trying to please men, then we are not servants of Christ. We are blessed with success once we seek God’s approval.
________________________________________
PRAYER
Lord, help me to be concerned with pleasing you only.
REFLECTION
How is seeking other’s approval an easy trap to get yourself enslaved from?

PRAYER FOR JOY Poem Devotional

Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good.
– Psalm 90:15(NLT)
PRAYER FOR JOY
A poem and essay by ILMA
Lord, help us to find happiness and contentment
Give us gladness to replace all the disgruntlement
Make us focus on you so we will be set free
Guide us through life so we can be able to see.
Lord, never let us be corrupted by this world
Help us to constantly seek the truth in your word
Let us rejoice and be glad for you have been faithful
Grant us a heart that is pure and never resentful.
________________________________________
Joy was a fruit of the Spirit that was absent in many years of my past life. The enemy made sure that I was stuck in misery and discontentment. This was the reason why I was a very complaining person and always found something to criticize about. I didn’t have joy because I was always longing for something I didn’t have. No wonder I had many broken relationships.
When I became born again, the Lord revealed to me how I could experience joy. It was when I started reading the word of God that I became aware of my complaining nature. I was convicted to learn to be content with what I have and be thankful for every little blessing I received. God will replace all your past misery with gladness. Run to him.

Lord, help me to find joy in obeying and living out your will.

THE BREVITY OF LIFE Poem Devotional

July 5
________________________________________
Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. – Psalm 90:12(NLT)
THE BREVITY OF LIFE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Look carefully at how you live your life
Make wise use of your resources and time
Do not boast about anything, for life is brief
You don’t know what tomorrow brings.
Life is like a mist, it his here now and gone later
Humble yourself and serve your heavenly Father
He will teach and guide you so you will grow wise
Seek him and his word and you will get good advice.
________________________________________
There are some people who brag about their achievements, knowledge, possessions, health and strength as if there is no tomorrow. I knew someone who took so much pride in his skills and his intelligence. He never took time to learn about others or even care about what other people say. He only cared about the things that he is very much capable of doing and also in pleasuring himself with all his wants and desires. This man never gave attention to caring for his health because he thinks he is immortal. This same person died in his mid fifties, without his family taking care of him. When he was diagnosed with cancer, it didn’t take a year before he died. The bible warns us that life is short. Run to God for much needed wisdom.

PRAYER
Lord, remind me always how mortal I am and how short my life can be.

TRUE HOME Poem Devotional

July 4
________________________________________
Lord, through all the generations, you have been my home. – Psalm 90:1(NLT)
TRUE HOME
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you get lost in the corruption of this world?
Do you consult God’s truth by meditating on his word?
Life can sometimes become chaotic and confusing at times
We can be consumed with many different things in our lives.
The Lord is always with us through many generations
He is our home, let’s run to him as we face temptations
When we go through many challenges, trials and sufferings
Let us go to our true home, the one true God Almighty.
________________________________________
Have you ever travelled for a number of days, weeks, months that you became so homesick? When you are in transit to many places, you pine for the comfort of your own home and wish that your journey ends where you are comfortable and familiar with. Other places or people can sometimes become alienating, especially if you are a “home person.”
The bible tells us that the Lord has always been with us through many generations. He never leaves or forsakes us despite our feelings that we are abandoned. But we can get muddled and lost in this very cruel and confusing world. The prodigal son’s story shows us how he left his father and asked for his inheritance, just to squander it later. He realized later that his Father’s home is still the best.

PRAYER
Lord, let me never lose my way in this life.

ALL WILL DIE Poem Devotional

July 3
________________________________________
No one can live forever. All will die. No one can escape the power of the grave.
-Psalm 89:48(NLT)
ALL WILL DIE
A poem and essay by ILMA
There is a time for everything
A time to be born and to die
No one can live forever
No one can escape.
All of us is going to die
But if you believe Christ
You will live and rise again
Just as he overcame the grave.
________________________________________
There are some people who do not like to think about dying or even discuss it. Even as a young child, I never had a problem dealing with deaths and I am always the bravest to look at the coffins when some family members died. I didn’t see death as a scary thing. always thought that it was just a part of life and that those who die are going somewhere much better. I was never afraid of dying and this was what made me live life to the fullest always.
The bible tells us that no one can live forever and everyone will die. No one can escape the power of the grave. The bible also says in John 11:25-26 that if you believe in Jesus, you will live even when you die and everyone who lives and believes in him, will never die. These verses talk about the promise of eternal life which goes beyond physical death.

PRAYER
Lord, help us to look at death as a part of life.

ALL HAVE SINNED Poem Devotional

June 30
________________________________________
Who can say “I have cleansed my heart; I am pure and free from sin?”
– Proverbs 20:9(NLT)
ALL HAVE SINNED
A poem and essay by ILMA
Who can say that they have not sinned?
Since man’s fall, humans are not totally free
Only in Christ will we be cleansed
Without him, we will have no defense.
Whenever we deny our sins and don’t repent
We open doors for the enemy to torment
All have sinned and fall short of God’s glory
Let us run to Jesus so we can have victory.
________________________________________
1 John 3:4 defines sin as lawlessness. Being lawless is synonymous to being a rebel or someone who is disobedient. The story of the fall of man in Genesis reminds us of the first rebels on earth, Adam and Eve. Because of their disobedience, the whole mankind suffered and we inherited “sin.” It made us all prone to lawlessness. It imprinted us all to have the tendency to disobey rather than to submit.
Despite our natural tendency to sin, God showed us how much he loves us by giving his only Son to pay the debt for our transgressions. Although all have sinned, God gave us a way out through the sacrifice of his Son. He only wants us to confess and repent of our sins and he is ready to forgive anyone who asks for his forgiveness.
________________________________________
PRAYER
Lord, help us to have the humility to come back to you and ask for forgiveness whenever we sin.

THE MARK OF HONOR Poem Devotional

June 29
________________________________________
Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling. -Proverbs 20:3(NLT)
THE MARK OF HONOR
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you avoid quarrels at all cost?
Or do you insist on being the boss?
It is a mark of honor when you avoid fights
Pursue peace, that’s what God wants in our lives.
When you walk in love, there’s no room for conflicts
God wants us to love others and walk in the Spirit
Remember to follow Christ who always served others
He commanded us to love our sisters and brothers.
________________________________________
When people grow up in the midst of conflicts, they automatically react to life either defensively or offensively. I witnessed a life of passive aggression. I didn’t know what peace looked like because I didn’t have a role model for it. When I reached high school, I didn’t realize how much I thrived in arguing. It became mechanical to respond to things by arguing to proving myself right. It was difficult to concede to any suggestions that didn’t jive with my ideas. It became an obsession to argue and I lost so many relationships because of this foolish pursuit. Pride became my lifestyle and I didn’t realize that I was my own idol. Thanks be to God that he delivered me from this and showed me that he wants me to pursue peace at all cost. Avoiding fights is a mark of honor.

Lord, help me to choose peace all the time.

THE GOD WHO COMFORTS & PROVIDES Poem Devotional

June 28
________________________________________
The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the godly. – Psalm 146:8(NLT)
THE GOD WHO COMFORTS & PROVIDES
A poem and essay by ILMA
What are you struggling with nowadays?
Are you discouraged and feeling down today?
The Lord lifts those who are tired and weary
He will comfort those who are feeling dreary.
God loves those who are righteous and godly
He guides them all and brings them victory
He opens the eyes of the blind and lets them see
Believe and commit your life to Christ and you’ll be free
________________________________________
When we are weighed down by many challenges in our lives, it is natural to feel discouraged. When one becomes a believer and commits to Jesus, the tendency to follow one’s nature changes. When we become born again, we see things new because the Lord transform the way we think and see things. While we were still unbelievers and living in sin, we become blind to see the truth. Only God’s Holy Spirit can open the eyes of the blind, we cannot do it in our own. It is very essential for a Christian to deepen their relationship with the Lord so they can be set free. The Lord loves all his creation but most especially those who lead a godly life. He comforts and provides for all his people.
