ONLY ONE GOD Poem Devotional

July 13________________________________________
There is only one God and he made people right with himself only by faith.
– Romans 3:30(NLT)
ONLY ONE GOD
A poem and essay by ILMA
There is only one God who made us all
He sent his Son to free us from Adam’s fall
He loves us so much that he forgives our sins
All we need is to grow our faith in him.
Only our Heavenly Father can make us right
He is the only one who can give us insight
Only by faith can we grow spiritually
It is by grace that we can grow into maturity.

According to some estimates, there are roughly 4,200 religions in the world. The word religion is sometimes used interchangeably with “faith” or “belief system”, but religion differs from private belief in that it has a public aspect. This information is extracted from Wikipedia. Despite the many various religions and gods, I firmly believe that there is only one God who can make people right with himself by faith. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the only God who became human and was resurrected. There is no other God who can do or have done such sacrifice of giving his own life for his beloved people to save them. He is also the only God who gave his word which is alive. Through many thousands of years, God inspired many people to write the gospel so all of us can grow our faith.

RIGHT IN GOD’S SIGHT Poem Devotional

July 12
________________________________________
God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus. – Romans 3:26(NLT)
RIGHT IN GOD’S SIGHT
A poem and essay by ILMA
When God sent his Son to redeem all sinners
He gave us the option to choose to be a believer
God did this to demonstrate his righteousness
He is faithful to fulfill all of his promises.
The Lord makes sinners right in his sight
He requires us to have faith and live in his light
Believe only in the Lord Jesus Christ
He is fair and just and easily forgives.

Being right is a natural bent of humans. We engage in discussions and conversations to prove that we are right. Being right in our own mind is not the same as being right in God’s sight. The first involves pride while the second requires a lot of humility and also faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. When we want to be right on our own, we focus on serving ourselves. When we desire to be right in the sight of God, we rely on his sovereignty and his power. His grace and mercy is overflowing when he gave his only begotten Son to free us from the debt of sin.
How can we be right in God’s sight? Growing our faith is one of the best ways we can please him.

JESUS’ SACRIFICE MAKES US RIGHT Poem Devotional

July 11
________________________________________People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. – Romans 3:25 (NLT)
JESUS’ SACRIFICE MAKES US RIGHT
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you believe how powerful is the sacrifice of Jesus?
He died for us because he considers us very precious
People are made right with God when they believe
The faith in his sacrifice is crucial for us to receive.
Are you able to reflect on the blood that saved you?
Have you allowed yourself to be renewed?
The blood of Jesus restores all relationships
It manifests his faithfulness and kingship.
________________________________________
Many people do their best to make things right. No one can really be truly right unless we acknowledge the power of the sacrifice on the cross. When Jesus died for our sins, his bloodshed paid our sin debt. He erased our sins through his faithful sacrifice on the cross.
He bridged the gap that was created by our sin. He became the link or the bridge for us to renew our relationship with the heavenly Father. Whenever we fall into sin, all he wants us to do is to confess it, repent and renew our lives so we can have a new beginning again. He forgives us when we repent and is always faithful to guide and teach us to do the right thing. So, always reflect on the blood that was shed for you.

TRUE FOR ALL BELIEVERS

July 10

We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. -Romans 3:22 (NLT)
TRUE FOR ALL BELIEVERS
A poem and essay by ILMA
When we place our faith in Jesus
To him, we become very precious
No matter who we are, we are made right
By believing in him, we prosper in life.
Faith in Jesus leads to righteousness
It brings about peace and happiness
Stay faithful to your wonderful Savior
He died for you so you can be a victor.
________________________________________
Righteousness is one promise among many promises that the Lord Jesus Christ gave his followers that stands out the most. We cannot achieve it. It is a gift given to all who put their faith and trust in him. By faithfully believing, we learn to discern and think the way he does. No one can be righteous without first placing their confidence in God.
In Romans 3, Paul explains how we can have the fruit of righteousness. It has no other pre-requisite but faith. This is probably why many biblical men of God rose to greatness. Their faith was so huge that they became worth knowing and emulating.
What is true for all believers is the promise of being made right with God. The great news about this privilege is that it is given to all who believe without discrimination to who they are or when they come from.

NOT ONE IS WISE OR RIGHTEOUS Poem Devotional

July 9
________________________________________
As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. – Romans 3:10-11(NLT)
NOT ONE IS WISE OR RIGHTEOUS
A poem and essay by ILMA
We only get wisdom if we consult the word
No one is truly wise to overcome this world
If we don’t seek God, we will fail to thrive
We will lack blessings if we don’t abide.
Scriptures say, no one is seeking God
Most people have turned their backs
That is why we need to seek him again
It will keep us winning against Satan.
________________________________________
Do you know anyone who is truly righteous, wise and without sin? There is no human who is exempt from sinning. The only person who is sinless is the Lord Jesus Christ. Even though he was God, he became human to save us.
In Romans 3, we are reminded that no human is righteous-not one person. We cannot be truly wise if we turn our backs to God. But in Romans chapter three, we see that we need not compare and judge one another since we are all sinners and that the only way we can be right with God is by abiding in him and meditating and living his word. Apart from him, we are nothing. So, let us all make sure that we seek him and follow his word.

Lord, give me the humility to praise and glorify you always.

PRAYER FOR JOY Poem Devotional

July 7
________________________________________
Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good.
– Psalm 90:15(NLT)
PRAYER FOR JOY
A poem and essay by ILMA
Lord, help us to find happiness and contentment
Give us gladness to replace all the disgruntlement
Make us focus on you so we will be set free
Guide us through life so we can be able to see.
Lord, never let us be corrupted by this world
Help us to constantly seek the truth in your word
Let us rejoice and be glad for you have been faithful
Grant us a heart that is pure and never resentful.
________________________________________
Joy was a fruit of the Spirit that was absent in many years of my past life. The enemy made sure that I was stuck in misery and discontentment. This was the reason why I was a very complaining person and always found something to criticize about. I didn’t have joy because I was always longing for something I didn’t have. No wonder I had many broken relationships.
When I became born again, the Lord revealed to me how I could experience joy. It was when I started reading the word of God that I became aware of my complaining nature. I was convicted to learn to be content with what I have and be thankful for every little blessing I received. God will replace all your past misery with gladness. Run to him.

Lord, help me to find joy in obeying and living out your will.

THE BREVITY OF LIFE Poem Devotional

July 5
________________________________________
Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. – Psalm 90:12(NLT)
THE BREVITY OF LIFE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Look carefully at how you live your life
Make wise use of your resources and time
Do not boast about anything, for life is brief
You don’t know what tomorrow brings.
Life is like a mist, it his here now and gone later
Humble yourself and serve your heavenly Father
He will teach and guide you so you will grow wise
Seek him and his word and you will get good advice.
________________________________________
There are some people who brag about their achievements, knowledge, possessions, health and strength as if there is no tomorrow. I knew someone who took so much pride in his skills and his intelligence. He never took time to learn about others or even care about what other people say. He only cared about the things that he is very much capable of doing and also in pleasuring himself with all his wants and desires. This man never gave attention to caring for his health because he thinks he is immortal. This same person died in his mid fifties, without his family taking care of him. When he was diagnosed with cancer, it didn’t take a year before he died. The bible warns us that life is short. Run to God for much needed wisdom.

Lord, remind me always how mortal I am and how short my life can be.

ALL WILL DIE Poem Devotional

July 3

No one can live forever. All will die. No one can escape the power of the grave.
-Psalm 89:48(NLT)
ALL WILL DIE
A poem and essay by ILMA
There is a time for everything
A time to be born and to die
No one can live forever
No one can escape.
All of us is going to die
But if you believe Christ
You will live and rise again
Just as he overcame the grave.
________________________________________
There are some people who do not like to think about dying or even discuss it. Even as a young child, I never had a problem dealing with deaths and I am always the bravest to look at the coffins when some family members died. I didn’t see death as a scary thing. always thought that it was just a part of life and that those who die are going somewhere much better. I was never afraid of dying and this was what made me live life to the fullest always.
The bible tells us that no one can live forever and everyone will die. No one can escape the power of the grave. The bible also says in John 11:25-26 that if you believe in Jesus, you will live even when you die and everyone who lives and believes in him, will never die. These verses talk about the promise of eternal life which goes beyond physical death.

Lord, help us to look at death as a part of life.

JOYFUL CALL TO WORSHIP Poem Devotional

July 2
________________________________________
Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence Lord. -Psalm 89:15(NLT)
JOYFUL CALL TO WORSHIP
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you adore and give praise to the Lord?
Are you worshiping him and walking in his presence?
Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship
They will walk in the light and applaud his kingship.
Jesus Christ is worthy of all praise and thanksgiving
Let us rejoice and be glad for all his favors and blessings
Call everyone to revere him and gather in adoration
Make all know that you are giving Christ due adulation.
________________________________________
How often do you hear of people jumping around joyfully praising the Lord? Some church denominations probably practice this, but an individual person actually doing it alone and infecting others to joyfully give praise to the Lord may be becoming a novelty nowadays. More and more people are becoming impersonal and sloppy with their worship. The distractions and busy-ness of life have contributed to people’s lax way of showing their adulation to the Lord.
The bible tells us that those who hear and heed the joyful call to worship will walk in the light and the presence of the Lord. In other words, their passion to exude the light of God to others will make them more intimate and closer to Christ Jesus.

PRAYER
Lord, give me a heart on fire to worship you.

ALL HAVE SINNED Poem Devotional

June 30
________________________________________
Who can say “I have cleansed my heart; I am pure and free from sin?”
– Proverbs 20:9(NLT)
ALL HAVE SINNED
A poem and essay by ILMA
Who can say that they have not sinned?
Since man’s fall, humans are not totally free
Only in Christ will we be cleansed
Without him, we will have no defense.
Whenever we deny our sins and don’t repent
We open doors for the enemy to torment
All have sinned and fall short of God’s glory
Let us run to Jesus so we can have victory.
________________________________________
1 John 3:4 defines sin as lawlessness. Being lawless is synonymous to being a rebel or someone who is disobedient. The story of the fall of man in Genesis reminds us of the first rebels on earth, Adam and Eve. Because of their disobedience, the whole mankind suffered and we inherited “sin.” It made us all prone to lawlessness. It imprinted us all to have the tendency to disobey rather than to submit.
Despite our natural tendency to sin, God showed us how much he loves us by giving his only Son to pay the debt for our transgressions. Although all have sinned, God gave us a way out through the sacrifice of his Son. He only wants us to confess and repent of our sins and he is ready to forgive anyone who asks for his forgiveness.
________________________________________
PRAYER
Lord, help us to have the humility to come back to you and ask for forgiveness whenever we sin.
REFLECTION
How can one protect himself from lawlessness?
