The Lord directs the step of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
-Psalm 37:23(NLT)
GOD DIRECTS THE GODLY
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you confer with God any minor or major decisions?
He is always concerned with your life including your tribulations
The Lord directs the step of the godly and gives you wisdom
He genuinely cares and wants you to live in freedom.
He loves it when you ask for his guidance and help
He wants you to care for others instead of the self
He delights in every detail of your life
The Lord longs for you to live in his light.
________________________________________
Have you ever consulted others when you need to make a decision? I used to just rely on my own judgment in order to come up with a choice. Sometimes I would succeed and other times, I would fail. I did it all for my own sake and never really thought much about following what God wants in my life. God revealed to me how he longs for me to ask him for every step and every thing under the sun. When I finally obeyed his commands, I felt peace and joy and didn’t focused much on what I can gain but was concerned more if I was pleasing God with the choices I make in life. The bible says that God directs the godly
PRAYER
Lord, grant me wisdom to know which direction you are leading me to follow.
REFLECTION
Do you hear God’s voice when he directs you to do something?

PLEA FOR THE LOST Poem Devotional

collingwood 228

February 24________________________________________
Father forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing. Luke 23:34(NLT)
PLEA FOR THE LOST
A poem and essay by ILMA
Lord, I ask you to forgive those who do not know you
They have no idea; they believe lies instead of truth
They are in bondage to strongholds, sin and curses
Father, have mercy on them and grant them forgiveness.
I cry out for the lost, those who roam around in confusion
Help those who live in bitterness, anger and those in isolation
Give them your unfailing love because they need you so
Soften their hardened hearts so they can know you more.
________________________________________
It is easy to just tell someone who is so mean to “Get Lost.” Why bother with those who are hard to get along with? But the bible tells us to love our enemies and do good to them and pray for them in the book of Matthew he tells us to be kind and tender-hearted to one another, forgiving each other just as God through Christ has forgiven us (Ephesians 4:32). The bible also talks about how close Jesus is to the broken hearted and the crushed in spirit in Psalm 34:18. It is easy to get along with those who are loving and kind, but we are called to get along with everyone, even those who are difficult to love. He challenges us to live with the difficult and forgive them.
PRAYER
Lord, give me strength to separate people from their sins.
REFLECTION
Why is it important to forgive others and pray for them?

WHEN YOU CALL ON JESUS Poem Devotional

IMG_8161

February 23________________________________________
He made you holy by means of Christ Jesus just as he did for all people everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours. -1 Corinthians 1:2 (NLT)
WHEN YOU CALL ON JESUS
A poem and essay by ILMA
Jesus was sent to mankind to make us holy
He came amongst us to cleanse us from any folly
When you call on Jesus, you will have peace
When you call on Jesus, you will be able to see.
Whenever his name is praised and uttered
He comes to help his sisters and brothers
When you call on Jesus, he listens to your plea
So speak up and say his name and you will free.
________________________________________
There is so power in the name of Jesus. If only people will witness the authority that his name brings, I think they call on his name more often. Just recently, I have been having challenges seeing someone I love so much and was prohibited to have a close contact with her. Since this person is still under authority of her parents, her hands were tied as well to have to see me. So, I called on Jesus, and have other Christian friends pray over the situation. Out of the blue, she was given permission to spend the night with me. When you call on Jesus, he will heed your call. His name has supremacy.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, you are worthy of praise.
REFLECTION
How often do you call on Jesus?

ANGRY AND DEJECTED Poem Devotional

juanita's unedited 042

February 22________________________________________
Why are you so angry? The Lord asked Cain. Why do you look so dejected?
-Genesis 4:6(NLT)
ANGRY AND DEJECTED
A poem and essay by ILMA
What is causing your sadness?
Why are you full of madness?
Anger is a manifestation of bitterness
It hinders your progress and makes you digress.
Why are you offended easily?
Do you think of yourself so highly?
Give up your bitterness and surrender to him
He will free you and make you overcome sin.
________________________________________
Have you ever observed how an angry person looks? I have lived with many angry people in my life that I can easily spot a bitter and angry person just by looking at their eyes. Their eyes look dead, no life, no glow. There is a saying that our eye is the window to our soul. Matthew 6:22-23 says that “Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is bad, your whole body is filled with darkness.” This is the reason why our eyes reflect our spirit. When you are angry, you will exude the darkness in your heart in your eyes. When you are peaceful and joyful, you will radiate a glow.
In Genesis 4:6, doesn’t God already know that he killed Abel? I think God is confronting Cain, waiting for him to confess and repent.
PRAYER
Dear Lord, please release any form of anger and sadness in my heart.
REFLECTION
Why do you think God confronts us when we sin?

UNION WITH CHRIST Poem Devotional

barrie visit 2011 412

February 21________________________________________
Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.-John 6:56(NLT)
UNION WITH CHRIST
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you burning with passion to know Christ?
Are you helping his body to have freedom in their lives?
Anyone who eats his word will be released from bondages
Those who drink his blood will have much advantages.
To be in union with Christ is to feed on his truth
To spiritually grow, one must allow his words to take root
Store what the Scriptures say in your heart
He will remain in you and will never depart.
________________________________________
When a man and a woman gets married, they become husband and wife and become one flesh. The commitment to marry someone is an act of unifying two people together and think and act as one entity. In the same manner, God longs for us to be united with him always. He created us for himself. We are not on our own. When we live our lives in isolation from him, we are behaving and acting like we come from him. God created us in his own image and likeness. We all have the capacity to become more like him everyday. He gave that gift to us. He expects us to eat of his body and drink from his blood so that He can remain in us and we in him.
PRAYER
Lord, remind me never allow anything to separate me from you.
REFLECTION
How can your union with Christ deepen so he can always remain in you?

COMMUNION BRINGS ETERNAL LIFE Poem Devotional

monocliff 2011 317

February 19________________________________________
I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you cannot have eternal life within you. – John 6:53(NLT)
COMMUNION BRINGS ETERNAL LIFE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Have you been reading and following the word of God?
Do you have your eyes fixed on the Father up above?
Do you partake of his flesh and blood regularly?
Are you intimate with him and hunger for him only?
Communion with Jesus brings you eternal life
Why wouldn’t you want to be in his glory light?
As much as you can, seek and obey him daily
It will lead you to a life that will last eternally.
________________________________________
Communion is defined as “sharing or exchanging of intimate thoughts and feelings, especially when the exchange is on a mental or spiritual level.” I was taught that holy communion was a sacrament when I was growing up. We were made to line up so we can receive the host by opening our mouth and say “Amen.” I believed this doctrine for over five decades of my life without really understanding the depth of communion.
The bible tells us that unless we eat the flesh of the Son (which is the truth which comes from the word of God) and drink his blood (which is the death he experienced in order to serve others by dying to our desires), we will not have eternal life.
PRAYER
Lord, let me be united to you all the time.
REFLECTION
How can we better commune with God in our life?

COVENANT MEDIATOR Poem Devotional

February 18________________________________________
You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people and to the sprinkled blood which speaks of forgiveness. -Hebrews 12:24(NLT)
COVENANT MEDIATOR
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you know anyone who can go between God and man?
Jesus is the only one who can mediate for all of us, humans
Christ is appointed by God to be the only way to come to him
It is by his sprinkled blood that we are forgiven and redeemed.
The Son of God is the covenant mediator who unites us all
He is the only ticket for us to break off from Adam and Eve’s fall
If you follow the only begotten son of God, you will be forgiven
You will definitely have your names registered for a spot in heaven.
________________________________________
There are many ways that the world offer to many unbelievers how they can be guaranteed a better life. Many people get stuck in this temporary world and do not know that it is just a break in the journey or a stopover. It is not really the final destination yet. For these reasons, many of us get stuck on possessions, relationships, power, fame, etc. The bible says that if you have come to Jesus, he will mediate the covenant between God and his people through his blood on the cross. It is the only way we will be forgiven.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for keeping me focused on your final destination.
REFLECTION
What can derail us from reaching the kingdom of God?

DO WHAT IS RIGHT Poem Devotional

winter 2013 landscapes 016

February 16________________________________________
You will be accepted if you do what is right, but if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out. Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master. -Genesis 4:7(NLT)
DO WHAT IS RIGHT
A poem and essay by ILMA
Whenever there is an occasion to do what is right
Go ahead and do it, don’t hesitate or think twice
The opportunity may never come again
Then you will lose what you can gain.
Doing what is right will keep the devil away
He won’t knock on your heart’s door any day
Doing good is what keeps you protected
It makes you overcome any attempt at being tempted.
________________________________________
Have you ever encountered an opportunity to do good and missed out on it? I recently was interrupted in my work because of an invitation to help someone. Instead of willingly complying to the request, I came up with so many excuses not to do it. My panic attack and selfishness got the better of me and I declined it. As a consequence of foregoing this chance to do what is right, I am suffering now losing the chance to be with someone I really care for and love.
The bible tells us to do what is right because it closes the door to the enemy. It protects us from all kinds of bondage to sin.
PRAYER
Lord, forgive me for not choosing to do what is right.
REFLECTION
When did you do the right thing and reaped a harvest from it?

ANOINTING FOR THE RIGHTEOUS AND DEVOUT Poem Devotional

crawford lake 2013 049
February 15________________________________________
He was righteous and devout and was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel. The Holy Spirit was upon him. – Luke 2:25(NLT)
ANOINTING FOR THE RIGHTEOUS AND DEVOUT
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you follow the will of the Lord in your life?
When you are righteous and devout, you’ll see his light
When you believe that Jesus is your Lord and Savior
You will be anointed to do God’s work and be a victor.
The path to salvation is narrow and only few tread it
The gate to damnation is wide and many walk on it
Wouldn’t you want to have the Spirit’s anointing?
Life will be peaceful and you’ll enjoy God’s blessings.
________________________________________
There are many believers who live their lives without even knowing their anointing. The only way a Christian will be able to know his or her calling is by having a close relationship with the Lord. If we constantly seek him and hunger to know more about him, he will reveal anything we want to know and he will anoint us with the presence of his Spirit to be able to fulfill his work through you.
The bible gives us an example of a prophet named Simeon who was very devout and righteous. As a result of his holiness, God appointed and anointed him to prophecy about the Lord Jesus and that he will live long enough to see him.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for giving us your Spirit freely if we believe.
REFLECTION
Has the Spirit been upon you and have shown you your anointing?

DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES

port elgin camping 2012 494

February 14________________________________________
He tried to look at Jesus but he was too short to see over the crowd. -Luke 19:3(NLT)
DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you see life as Christ would see it?
Do you know his teachings and listen to his Spirit?
When you acknowledge your sin, you admit your littleness
It makes you see through the lens of his wisdom and greatness.
If you admit your weaknesses, God will lift you up
If you deny it, you will stagnate and not grow up
Take God’s viewpoint in everything you do
His perspective will make all things new.
________________________________________
In drawing, perspectives are very crucial. When you draw on the spot, it is important to just stay in one viewpoint or else, you will distort the finished work. This is why when you have a model, you only stay in one angle and ensure that the model doesn’t move as well. Looking at it in one perspective will make it work right, but seeing it from many angles will cloud your sight and your visual memory.
In Luke 19, we hear the story of Zaccheus, the chief tax collector in Jericho. He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a tree beside the road to get a better perspective. Jesus asked Zaccheus to make him guest in his home.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for showing me your view through your holy book.
REFLECTION
What viewpoint do you have of God that was contaminated by the world?
