DANIEL 2
12 Because of this the king was angry and very furious, and commanded that all the wise men of Babylon be destroyed. 13 So the decree went out, and the wise men were about to be killed; and they sought Daniel and his companions, to kill them. 14 Then Daniel replied with prudence and discretion to Arioch, the captain of the king’s guard, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon. 15 He declaredto Arioch, the king’s captain, “Why is the decree of the king so urgent?” Then Arioch made the matter known to Daniel. 16 And Daniel went in and requested the king to appoint him a time, that he might show the interpretation to the king.17 Then Daniel went to his house and made the matter known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, 18 and told them to seek mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that Daniel and his companions might not be destroyed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

DANIEL 2 CONFIDENCE AND ASSURANCE IN GOD
A poem by ILMA inspired by these verses
When Daniel heard of the fate of the wise men of Babylon
He immediately told his friends to seek mercy from God
Daniel knew that the Sovereign Lord knows what to do
He was sure that God would grant him the dream interpretation.
In this account, we hear of the fate of the wise men of Babylon from King Nebuchadnezzar order. Because they could not guess and interpret the dream of the king, they were all put to death. Interestingly, the account didn’t have any detail about Daniel’s fear for his life and his friends’ lives. He was fearless and confident that his Lord would grant him the details of the dream and its interpretation. He even asked the king’s captain to set an appointment for him to interpret the dream. What confident faith this man of God had!
There are many believers but a few have that boldness and courage like Daniel had. It was definitely a Spirit led move to volunteer to interpret the king’s dream. It is an amazing thing that he also asked his friends to pray and seek God’s mercy so that their lives can be spared as well.
